Many parents and players do not understand what this means and what an opportunity it is to play at this level within our club. We want to educate everyone as much as possible about why SCSC is recognized as the only "Premier" club within a 50 mile radius of Elmira. What criteria makes us "Premier" level?
1. SCSC’s commitment to Player Development:
SCSC is recognized by NYSWYSA as a ’Best Practices’ Club which means we have met a standard for player development. Only 7 clubs across NYW are currently recognized for this and we are the only PREMIER club to have this distinction. Our club has been a pioneer with new player development models for the last 8 years with our development program, our new fall street soccer program, and using the NYW Center of Excellence model. We have been consistently recognized by NYW for these programs and innovations for making our players better through these fundamental ideas and practices. Our foundation for training promotes players to be creative, making decisions without fear of making mistakes, realize life lessons through soccer, and promote positive sportmanship.
2. SCSC’s commitment to coaching education and Retaining the highest level coaches:
Coaching education should be at the foundation for any "Premier" level club to have coaches qualified or licensed at a high level. Our club has the highest qualified coaches based on licenses/diplomas, coaching experience, and playing experience paralleled by very few "Premier" clubs in NYW. Our staff boasts of having college (4 current and 2 former), high school varsity (5 current and 2 former), NYSWYSA Associate Director’s of Coaching (2 current), NYSWYSA Instructional Staff (2 current), NYWSYSA Olympic Development Program (4 current and 4 former), and USYSA ODP Region 1 Boy’s Summer Staff (2 current) coaches. These licensing qualifications make coaches more credible at this level and is a requirement for some "Premier" league play. Throughout these courses our coaches take they are tested through written exams, research papers, oral exams, and practical field tests. At a certain level these licenses/diplomas are not just given away for attendance but every coach has to pass to receive their respective qualification. NO CLUB IN NYW HAS SUPPORTED COACHING EDUCATION THE PAST 5 YEARS LIKE SCSC. We have paid the full cost of every course our coaches have attended to keep them on the cutting edge of player development. The following is a list of licenses our coaches hold through USSF and NSCAA:

USSF National B - 2; USSF National C - 4; USSF National Youth License - 2; USSF National D or State D- 18; USSF E Certificate - 25; USSF Goalkeeping Certificate - 1

We here at SCSC host courses through USSF and NSCAA to keep our coaches and even parents abreast on the lastest trends and training methods to bring back to our players.
3. SCSC’s Commitment to Competitive Play:
SCSC has a great history competing with the best "Premier" clubs in our region. Our "Premier" teams compete at or have competed at some of the highest levels of play which includes: The Region 1 Sub-Regional leagues, the Upstate Premier league, the Thruway Premier league, the Upstate Travel league, Regional US Youth Soccer Championships (4 Bronze Medals); NYSWYSA State Cup Championships (7 State Cup Champions, 2 State Cup Runner-Ups and 11 State Cup Finalists), Empire Cup and College Showcase, Erie Cup and Flagship College Showcase, and the Adidas Premier Indoor and College Showcase just to name a few. Most, if not all, of these leagues or tournaments require a certain level accomplishment, coaching level, and club history to be invited to participate in which SCSC has consistently done.
4. SCSC’s Associate Director’s of Coaching:
Our club has a history of having this position and was one the first clubs in NYW to have consistently done so. Having a DOC or ADOC is of utmost importance for any "Premier" club. All "Premier" clubs retain a DOC or ADOC to lead their clubs in player development and to keep their clubs on the cutting edge of training for their coaches and players. SCSC’s current DOC council includes three ADOC’s and a Goalkeeping Technical Director which was recognized as another innovative idea/system over the traditional DOC model. The ADOC’s for SCSC have strong player development beliefs, vision for the future, extensive qualifications through USSF and NSCAA, strong coaching and playing backgrounds, and are on the NYSWYSA ODP staff. Currently our ADOC’s are some of the VERY FEW to have NSCAA DOC certification across the country.
In closing we would like to reiterate that every player and parent gets this high quality of coaching and training for $175. All other "Premier" clubs in NYW cost between $800-$2000 and SCSC provides the same top quality training, highly licensed coaches, and league play for a fraction of the cost.
