In the fall of 2003, SCSC started up their ‘development group’ which was to serve as an introduction to soccer for some of the younger children in and around the
Elmira area.
Here at SCSC, the earliest we offer the chance to play ‘travel’ soccer is at the U10 level and we feel that this development program will serve to better prepare players for that level of play once they reach 8 or 9 years old.
The primary objective of this program is to encourage players to be comfortable with a soccer ball and to enjoy themselves, and this is achieved through a variety of fun activities which allow them numerous opportunities to experiment with their own ball, as well as small-sided games so that they can discover for themselves what soccer is all about.
Any child aged between 4 and 9 years old is welcome.
The costs of participation (which includes a ball and an SCSC t-shirt) for the Fall session is just $50.00, the Spring Session is $50.00 and the Winter Session is $25.00, you only are required to sign up for one session at a time.
Sessions are run by SCSC certified coaches (with assistance from parents and older SCSC players). In fact, this is a great chance for any of you parents to get involved with helping out as much as possible. Don’t worry if you have never coached before or even if you have never played the game. In fact, the only thing you need to be able to do is create and sustain a positive, fun environment in which the important ones (that’s the kids) can flourish.
